Cleaning in London: prices, hours and what to book
Written by the Let Us Clean 4u team in Pimlico. Our prices come from our live price list, and hours come from the calculator our booking form uses. Last updated .
How much does a cleaner cost per hour in London?
Most London cleaners charge £15 to £30 an hour. Agencies usually charge more than independent cleaners. Our regular domestic cleaning is £22 an hour with a 3-hour minimum.
Published guides differ on the exact range, so treat any single figure as a guide:
- Cleaners of London says most London cleaners charge £15 to £30 an hour, and independents typically £13 to £20.
- Housekeep puts the average at £19 an hour, within a £13 to £25 range depending on location.
- Fantastic Services puts London at £20 to £28 an hour.
- Checkatrade reports agencies at £25 to £30 an hour.
Three things move the price: how often you book (weekly costs less per hour than a one-off), the size and condition of the home, and whether products are supplied. You can use your own products, or we bring professional eco-friendly products for £2 an hour.
How much do deep cleaning and end of tenancy cleaning cost?
Both are fixed prices set by the number of bedrooms, not hourly rates. A deep clean costs £129 to £269, and an end of tenancy clean £149 to £290.
| Property size | Deep clean | End of tenancy |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | £129 | £149 |
| 1 bedroom | £159 | £180 |
| 2 bedrooms | £199 | £220 |
| 3 bedrooms | £269 | £290 |
| 4 bedrooms or more | Custom quote | Custom quote |
Oven cleaning is priced separately when booked on its own: £50 for a single oven, £65 for a double, £95 for a range cooker and £130 for an AGA.
Which clean do you need: regular, deep or end of tenancy?
Book a deep clean for a one-off top-to-bottom reset, an end of tenancy clean when you leave a rental, and regular cleaning to keep a home under control week to week.
| Service | Price | What's included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular domestic | £22/hr | Floors, kitchen surfaces, bathrooms, dusting, bins. Same cleaner each visit. | Weekly or fortnightly upkeep |
| Deep clean | from £129 | A regular clean plus inside cupboards, behind appliances, limescale, skirting boards and light fittings. | Moving in, a seasonal reset, or after a long gap |
| End of tenancy | from £149 | A full deep clean to inventory check-out standard, inside every appliance, with a 72-hour re-clean. | Tenants moving out, landlords between lets |
| Oven clean | from £50 | Interior, racks, trays, door glass and hob. | Ovens with built-up grease |
| After builders | £27/hr | Fine dust, paint splashes and plaster residue, plus a floor scrub. | After renovation work |
| Bin cleaning | from £15/bin | Hot-water wash, sanitise and deodorise. | Wheelie bins and bin stores |
If your home hasn't been properly cleaned for a while, start with a deep clean and then switch to regular visits. Weekly cleans take less time once the home is back to a good baseline.
What does a deep clean include?
A deep clean covers every room top to bottom, including the places a regular clean skips: inside cupboards, behind appliances, limescale and the oven.
- Inside kitchen cupboards and drawers
- Behind and under the fridge, cooker and washing machine where they can be moved
- Inside the oven, plus the hob and extractor filters
- Limescale on taps, shower screens, tiles and toilets
- Skirting boards, door frames, light switches and plug sockets
- Light fittings, ceiling corners and cobwebs
- Window sills and the inside of windows
- Vacuuming under beds and sofas, then mopping every hard floor
We bring all products and equipment for deep cleans. Larger homes get a team of two to four cleaners so the job finishes in a day.
What does end of tenancy cleaning cover, and will you get your deposit back?
An end of tenancy clean returns the property to the standard recorded on your check-in inventory. No cleaner can guarantee your deposit, because your landlord, or the deposit scheme if you dispute it, decides any deductions.
It covers everything in a deep clean, plus inside the oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine, wardrobes, walls and skirting, and mould and limescale in bathrooms.
In England, landlords must protect your deposit in a government-approved scheme: the Deposit Protection Service, MyDeposits or the Tenancy Deposit Scheme. If you dispute a deduction, the scheme decides it from evidence such as the check-in inventory and the check-out report. A cleaning invoice and dated photos strengthen your case.
Our promise is specific: if your agent or landlord flags cleaning issues within 72 hours, we come back and re-clean those areas free. See our Deposit Defender checklist and end of tenancy cleaning page.
Should you use an agency or an independent cleaner?
An independent cleaner is often cheaper per hour. An agency handles vetting, insurance, cover when your cleaner is off sick or on holiday, and re-cleans when something is missed.
Sources disagree on how big the price gap is. Cleaners of London puts independents at £13 to £20 an hour, while Checkatrade reports independents at around £25 and agencies at £25 to £30. So compare what's included, not just the hourly rate.
If you hire an independent cleaner, ask to see their DBS certificate and insurance yourself. Agree in writing what happens with sickness, holidays and breakages.
How many hours of cleaning does your home need?
A typical 2-bed flat needs about 4 hours of regular cleaning, and a 3-bed house about 5. Our booking calculator allows 30 minutes per bedroom and bathroom, 60 minutes for the kitchen and 40 per living room, with a 3-hour minimum.
| Home | Rooms assumed | Hours | Cost at £22/hr |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-bed flat | 1 bed, 1 bath, 1 kitchen, 1 living | 3 hours | £66 |
| 2-bed flat | 2 bed, 1 bath, 1 kitchen, 1 living | 4 hours | £88 |
| 3-bed house | 3 bed, 2 bath, 1 kitchen, 1 living | 5 hours | £110 |
| 4-bed house | 4 bed, 2 bath, 1 kitchen, 2 living | 6 hours | £132 |
These are the hours our booking form recommends for a regular clean. A first visit, or a home that has been left for a while, usually needs longer. Add £2 an hour if we bring the products.
How do booking and preparation work?
Booking online takes about 60 seconds: choose the service, date and time, enter your postcode and pay securely. Same-day cleaning is often possible if you book before noon.
Before your cleaner arrives:
- Clear clutter off surfaces and floors so the time goes on cleaning.
- Arrange access: be at home, leave a key, or share a key-safe code when booking.
- If you're in a controlled parking zone, such as much of Westminster, Camden or Kensington, a visitor permit helps the cleaner start on time.
- Tell us about delicate surfaces, pets or rooms to skip.
Regular bookings can be paused or cancelled with 24 hours' notice.
How do you choose a trustworthy cleaning company in London?
Check four things before you book: background checks, insurance, reviews you can verify, and clear written terms.
DBS checks for every cleaner
A basic DBS check shows unspent criminal convictions. Ask whether the company checks every cleaner it sends, not only some of them.
Public liability insurance
This covers accidental damage to your home or belongings. Ask who the insurer is and how you would make a claim.
Reviews you can verify
Read the company's Google reviews, not just testimonials on its own website, and look at how it replies to complaints.
Clear written terms
Check the cancellation notice, who supplies products, and exactly what the re-clean or refund promise covers.
Every Let Us Clean 4u cleaner is DBS-checked and covered by our public liability insurance, and you can read our reviews on Google.
What happens if you're not happy, or something gets damaged?
If you're not happy with a clean, we send a cleaner back within 48 hours to re-clean free, or give you a full refund. Accidental damage caused by our cleaners is covered by our public liability insurance.
Tell us as soon as you notice a problem, by phone on 07961 597215, on WhatsApp on 07939 884169, or by email at info@letusclean4u.com, and include photos. End of tenancy cleans also carry our 72-hour re-clean guarantee.
Are cleaning prices going up in 2026?
Probably, a little. Wages are the main cost in cleaning, and the Living Wage Foundation has raised the London Living Wage to £15.45 an hour for 2026-27, up from £14.80.
The new rates were announced on 15 October 2026: £15.45 in London and £14.10 in the rest of the UK. The Foundation asks accredited employers to pay them by 1 May 2027 at the latest. Once insurance, travel and supervision are added, fairly paid agency cleaning in London cannot go much below about £20 an hour.
Our current prices are in the tables above and were checked on 24 October 2026.
